Wise Path Recovery Centers (WPRC) rose from the desire to combat the ongoing substance use disorder epidemic and co-occurring mental health issues in the United States. As numbers rise, Wise Path Recovery feels inspired to create places that offer the services so many need. We recognize the obstacles that many face when trying to obtain these services such as financial needs and accessibility. Wise Path Recovery Centers, managed by Ascension Recovery Services, strives to create treatment centers and sober living homes in many states, such as West Virginia to start, that address these obstacles. Ascension RS provided program development services including business and financial planning, development of the staffing model, behavioral health licensing, connection and support with marketing and branding services, business development, and support in contracting with commercial insurance payers and MCOs.

Partner: The Divided Sky Foundation; Red Light Management
Type of Program: Residential Recovery Program – Utilizing a spirituality philosophy with a holistic recovery method approach that has been known to be helpful to those seeking recovery from alcoholism and drug dependency.
Services Provided: Program Development and Program Management
The Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program is designed as a supportive and compassionate environment that implements mindfulness practices, life skills, and emotional sobriety education to those seeking recovery from substance use disorder. There will be a variety of self-help meetings on-site, including MORE training, 12 Step, SMART, ACOA, Recovery Dharma, and Y12SR. Guests will be guided toward learning the relationship, values, and life purpose components of spirituality. The program will include stimulating outdoor activities as well as community service projects.
Ascension RS has provided program development services and will provide long-term operational support. In addition, Ascension RS has led land use legal proceedings with the town of Ludlow, Vermont and provided architectural expertise in preparation of facility renovations.

Partner: Pawnee Nation
Type of Program: Psychiatric hospital providing Crisis Stabilization, Withdrawal Management/Detox, and Residential Services. In addition, it will include Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and Mental Health Counseling services.
Services Provided: Design Development, Program Development, and Program Management.
The Pawnee Nation is in the process of designing, building, and developing a comprehensive behavioral health treatment facility that will incorporate traditional Indigenous culture and medicine into the program. The facility/hospital will offer a continuum of inpatient services for adults as well as outpatient care for youth and adults.
Ascension RS is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing the fully integrated SUD, MH, and co-occurring disorders treatment facility. The construction of this new facility is set to begin by February 2023.

West Virginia Sober Living (WVSL), formerly known as Morgantown Sober Living (MSL), has been instrumental in offering structure and support for men and women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction in West Virginia.
WVSL offers sober homes for men and women and a broad array of peer support services throughout the region. The WVSL program is centered on the principles of 12 Steps, combined with other evidence-based practices. Our guests live in one of the sober homes for a period of six to 12 months, developing strong relations and demonstrate transparency in their daily life, while maintaining accountability to the group. Through the program, each guest will gain independence and responsibility, both financially and emotionally, as they become the person they want to be with peace and freedom, which is the ultimate goal.
WVSL also encompasses Reintegrate Appalachia and WV PEERS.
Recovery Boys - a Netflix original was released Friday, June 29, 2018. The documentary film features four young West Virginians battling with substance use disorder (SUD) and their road to recovery at the farming-based rehab, Jacob's Ladder, located in Aurora, West Virginia.
The film illustrates the strength, brotherhood and courage it takes to fight addiction and re-enter society.

kathy ireland® Recovery Centers (KIRC) offers client-centered treatment options for substance use disorders (SUDs) and dual diagnoses. The mission is to expand access to care by opening these comprehensive, person-centered SUD treatment centers across the country providing for all who need treatment. KIRC will offer a full spectrum of services, including a combination of detoxification, residential treatment, partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program, outpatient program, and medication-assisted therapies.

Ascension RS, in partnership with Gensler, an international architecture and design firm, is developing the Master Plan for the Long Island Recovery Center (LIRC) in Boston Harbor. We are building a comprehensive recovery campus, offering a full continuum of care for substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders, serving the City of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the surrounding region. This recovery campus will serve as a model of care for the entire country.
We have developed the following seven goals for the new recovery center’s Master Plan:
Together with the Mayor’s Office of Health and Human Services and Office of Recovery Services, our team has engaged with key recovery services providers across the state to identify critical gaps in care, along with promising practices and innovative ideas, to create the design of programs and services that may ultimately be located on Long Island.
Ascension RS is working with MassHealth and the City of Boston to develop a value-based reimbursement model and innovative SUD treatment delivery system to be implemented at the LIRC. We intend to replicate this model throughout Massachusetts in collaboration with MassHealth.
Columbus Regional Health’s Treatment and Support Center (TASC) provides substance use treatment to its community. TASC operates as a triage center for addiction-related immediate health needs, MAT, partial hospitalization programming, IOP, individual therapy, group therapy, referral for job placement and workplace monitoring, sober living homes, and peer recovery coach services.
Ascension RS provided program development and operational services to the CRH team. Additionally, this program received CARF accreditation.
In addition, Ascension RS wrote a grant that was funded by SAMHSA in the amount of $1.58 million and a foundation grant for $2.1 million to be applied to the start-up and enhanced operations of TASC. Ascension RS has an ongoing management services agreement with CRH for TASC.

Ascension RS worked with WVU Medicine (WVU Hospitals and WVU Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry) to launch the Center for Hope and Healing (CHH), a state of the art residential drug and alcohol treatment center located in Morgantown, West Virginia. This facility includes a 12-bed medically-managed withdrawal unit along with a 30-bed residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment unit. Developed with the most up to date evidence-based programs in mind, Center for Hope and Healing offers the highest quality, comprehensive, person-centered care for individuals struggling with SUD and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Ascension RS developed the business plan and the treatment/staffing/financial models, established all business processes including payer relations, financed the construction of the facility through a public/private partnership, hired the contractor/architect/engineer, and developed the property/building at a project cost of $13,000,000.
This facility opened on March 4, 2019. CHH is accredited by the Joint Commission and accepts a broad mix of payers, including commercial insurance, Medicaid, private pay, and charity care. CHH is partially funded by a $1 million grant, co-written by Ascension RS and WVU HSC, through the Ryan Brown Fund that enhances clinical programming for pregnant women with SUD and overdose survivors.
Ascension RS has developed all of the wrap-around support services for CHH through West Virginia Sober Living (WVSL), a self-sustaining 501(c)(3) non-profit, operating recovery residences, a job creation and workforce reintegration program, and a network of peer recovery coaches.
